ALICE HAY
DOB: 08/06/1947
Drink only
Pall-filtered water from kitchen.
Levothyroxine: Take
at 6:30 am. Cannot take any other pill (eg Toporal, Reloxifene) for at
least an hour afterward.
No vitamins/minerals for 4 hours. (They will bind with Levothyroxine and
make it ineffective.)
Eyes: Microwave eye mask for 60 seconds each morning. Wrap the mask in 4 folded
paper towels and put it on eyes for 15-20 minutes, using fewer towels as it
cools down. Then repeat. Blink eyes hard 5 times, and then use eye
scrubs (Tea Tree from Amazon). Repeat all steps of mask process in the
evening.
Use “Refresh” eyedrops (OTC)
on bedroom bureau twice a day for dry eyes (both of them).
Sinus: Fill the plastic sinus wash bottle near the kitchen sink up to the line
with DISTILLED water daily. Empty one blue-and-white capsule of Mometasone and
one packet of dry saline (both in kitchen cabinet above countertop window) into
the sinus wash bottle … shake… and heat in microwave for 20 seconds. At the
sink, put one foot far forward and bend head face-down. Gently squirt up into
each nostril at least twice, while saying “K” (so water will go into sinuses
properly). Using Pall-filtered water, refill and squeeze bottle 2-3 times, then
remove top, wipe it off with vinegar, shake both parts and dry them on cup rack
behind sink. Each Wednesday sterilize plastic sinus bottle with solution
of 1/3 distilled white vinegar and 2/3 Pall-filtered water; add cap and squirt
solution up tube, then flush out tube with filtered water. Then separate top
from bottle and rinse both with filtered water and dry on rack.
Each Friday, clean the
plastic bottle: add 2-3 drops of Dawn detergent from above sink and fill it
with filtered water up to line. Shake and squeeze until empty. Then separate
bottle and top, rinse both with filtered water, and dry on rack, as above. (Plastic
bottles last 3 months. Extra bottles in closet, including top drawer. (To order
bottles, Mometasone, and saline, call Advanced RX: 844-511-4700)
Lungs: Every day,
squirt one 3.5 percent saline tube (on nebulizer table) into the nebulizer
mouthpiece. (Need Dr.’s Rx to order from Penn Pharmacy, 215-662-6260). Use
the nebulizer for 25 minutes, coughing up phlegm into a cup, as necessary. Then,
leaving machine on for 5 more minutes to dry, disassemble the plastic nebulizer
mouthpiece into 4 parts, put them into larger blue metal bowl (probably in
dishwasher) and soak them in a solution of one tsp of dish detergent (Dawn
preferred) topped off with Pall-filtered water. Once every two weeks,
measure 1 ounce (2 TBS) of Control III (in kitchen cabinet to the left of sink)
into an empty plastic jug with the next replacement date (two weeks hence)
written on it; then add 2/3 gallon of Pall-filtered water from the sink and
shake. At least twice a week, put the 4 plastic pieces of the
disassembled nebulizer mouthpiece back into the larger blue metal bowl; then
pour solution from the afore-mentioned plastic jug over the nebulizer pieces in
the bowl and, after letting them soak for 25 minutes, thoroughly rinse the 4
pieces and the bowl with filtered water. (Note: Aerosolized water or dust in
the air could carry NTM bacteria, so use only Pall-filtered water for anything
regarding the lungs or food or drink. Likewise, avoid humidifiers/diffusers or anything
that sprays droplets of unfiltered water into ambient air.) Every two months,
replace nebulizer pieces with new ones from the drawer of the dining-room
secretary. (Get them, included, when buying 3.5 percent saline solution,
mentioned above, from Penn Medicine. Or order from Pari at 800-327-8632.)
Back: Must do pelvic tilt 15 times daily for lower back tightness. Cat/cow
also helps.
Osteoporosis: Take Reloxifene
(Evista) per schedule. (For refills consult Dr. Del Judice.) Use vibrating
platform regularly.
Laxatives: 2 Colon Max (Amazon)
and 2 1/2 - 3 stool softeners daily, per schedule. Delcolax suppository, as
needed.
Sleep: Take 1 1/2 Trazadone (Gitterman prescription) at 10:30 pm. This MUST be
taken with a small amount of food to prevent dizziness and nausea. At
11:00 pm take 2 Cortisol Manager (Amazon).
Pall filters for the kitchen
sink and bedroom shower: Replace from dining-room bureau every two months on
the first day of every even month. Order from Patty Schwartz (920-845-5810
x117). For filter questions: Pamela Jenkins (516-916-4225),
Bloodwork: Quest for
simple bloodwork. Bloodwork for Penn (Bosso, immunity) can be scheduled at 267-414-2605.
Gut: Ginsburg pills can be ordered using Fullscript at 1-866-807-3828. Diet
is gluten free with no pork or beef.
In addition, it is very
important to follow schedule in “Alice Hay-Tolo’s Daily Meds & Supplements”.
